Indications and Dosage of Ribociclib


Indication: Kryxana contains the active substance ribociclib, which belongs to a group of medicines called cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) inhibitors.

This medication is used in women with a type of breast cancer called hormone receptor-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative breast cancer that is locally advanced or has spread to other parts of the body (metastatic). Ribociclib for breast cancer treatment should be used in combination with an aromatase inhibitor or fulvestrant, which are used as hormonal anticancer therapies.

Women who have not reached menopause will also be treated with a medicine called a luteinising hormone releasing hormone (LHRH) agonist.


How Ribociclib works:

This breast cancer drug works by blocking proteins called cyclin-dependent kinases 4 and 6, which are essential for the growth and division of the cells. Blocking as well as resisting these proteins can slow down the growth of the cancerous cells and can delay the progression of cancer.

Dosage: Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor, pharmacist or nurse has told you. Your healthcare professional will instruct you exactly what quantity or how many tablets to consume and which specific days to consume them on.

Check with your healthcare provider, pharmacist, doctor or nurse if you are not clear. Do not change the ribociclib dose or schedule without talking to your doctor. Shouldn't consume extra doses.


How much the Kryxana to take: The recommended starting dose of Ribociclib is 600 mg (3 tablets of Ribociclib 200 mg) once daily. Your healthcare provider will instruct you about how many tablets of this drug (Kryxana) to consume; in certain circumstances your healthcare team may instruct you to consume a light dose of it, for example 400 mg (2 tablets of 200 mg) once daily or Ribociclib 200 mg (1 tablet of 200 mg) once daily.

A treatment cycle lasts 28 days. Take Kryxana once a day only on days 1 to 21 of a 28-day cycle.

It is quite essential to follow the instructions given by your healthcare team. If you have certain adverse effects your healthcare provider may ask you to consume a lower dose, interrupt your treatment with Ribociclib, or discontinue it permanently.


When to take it: Take this drug once daily at the same time each day, preferably in the morning. This will guide you in order to remember to consume your drugs.


How to take Ribociclib: The tablets should be swallowed whole (tablets should not be chewed, crushed, or split before swallowing). Do not consume a tablet that is cracked, broken, splitted, or damaged.


Ribociclib with food and drink: You should take this drug once daily every day at the same time, preferably in the morning. You can consume it either with or without meals.


Do not take Ribociclib: if you have ever allergic reactions to this drug, soya, peanut or any kind of ingredients of this medication and also If your perspective is that you may be allergic, discuss with your healthcare provider for advice.


If you take more Ribociclib than?

If you take too many tablets, or if someone else takes your medicine, contact a doctor or hospital for advice immediately. Medical treatment may be necessary.


If you forget to consume a dose of Ribociclib: If you puke just after consuming the dose or forget to consume a dose, skip that specific missed dose particular day. Consume the very next dose at about your usual time.

Never consume a double dose for making up for a forgotten dose. Instead, just wait until it is very close or near the time for your upcoming dose and then consume your usual dose.


If you stop taking Ribociclib: Stopping your treatment with Ribociclib may cause your condition to get worse. Do not interrupt consuming this medication unless your healthcare provider suggested you to.
